Flexible OLED Technology Making Breakthroughs

Several companies, among them big name Philips and a bunch of others few people have heard of, have developed a flexible OLED lamp. Once you understand the technology that goes behind it and the potential it has change the world as we know it (it really does) then all of a sudden this little 12 x 12cm OLED lamp is far cooler.

The problem with thin and flexible OLED panels in the past has been the cost of creating them and the fact that it had been difficult to "secure enough electrical conductivity of ITO in a low-temperature process." Apparently that was a big problem and, according to more technical data that the average person doesn't understand, they've fixed it. Huzzah!

Using some sort of transparent resin, called Orgacon (sounds like something from outer space), these companies have actually improved the quality of the OLED panels and, from the sounds of it, have made it easier to produce. One small step for Orgacon, one giant leap for OLED wallpaper all over my home. We're excited.
