The CTIA Wireless 2009 convention starts in Las Vegas this coming Tuesday, and we're expecting some interesting demonstrations, some exciting announcements, a lot of small booths for products no one has heard of and an awful lot of smartphones. We'll be there next week to give you the scoop on all the big announcements. We've compiled a quick list of things we expect to see at CTIA 2009.

The fun actually starts the night before CTIA officially kicks off. That's because we'll be hitting the Sneak Peek event, and we expect to get a good heads-up on what the major manufacturers have brought to CTIA. Stay tuned to the TTR Tech News Blog to hear the latest updates on CTIA.

So without further ado, here's what we expect from CTIA 2009:

Apps - If you haven't noticed already, Apple has made apps uber-cool, and you can expect everybody to be showing off apps that do this, that and nothing at all.

BlackBerry App World - Speaking of apps, BlackBerry maker RIM has hinted that they'll launch the app store for BlackBerry phones at CTIA.

BlackBerry TV - RIM has also hinted at a CTIA reveal for a new feature for BlackBerry phones that will allow them to download and watch TV episodes. Perfect for business, indeed.

Palm Pre Pricing and Info - We're dying to know some more details about the Palm Pre (like when and for how much), and we're thinking CTIA might be a convenient place for Palm to try to steal the show with Pre announcements, like they did at CES.

Android and HTC - We're hoping to hear a little more about HTC's plans for Android phones this year. But we're also expecting more carriers and manufacturers to reveal plans for Android phones.

Skype on the iPhone - The rumor has been around for a while, but CTIA might be the place where the rumors become fact.

Touchscreens - While touchscreens have been the golden child of the wireless industry for a decade, it's only in been the last year or so that touchscreens have started to pop up regularly. We expect a lot of manufacturers to unveil touchscreen devices this year.

Bluetooth - Expect to see Bluetooth everything. Really. Everything.

Wires - Don't think the irony of showcasing wires at a wireless convention is lost on us. But for a wireless conference we've sure received a lot of press material from companies selling wires and cables. Go figure.

BONUS: Dell Smartphones - This isn't with the rest of the list because it's might be a real longshot. We've been hearing more and more about the Dell smartphones lately, and we think CTIA might (just might) be the place where Dell finally spills the beans about the phones they've been working on for years.

Oh and one more thing. Don't expect to hear anything from Apple about the new iPhone. Apple prefers to hold their own conferences, so you probably won't hear anything about the new iPhone until WWDC.
