Touchscreens are all the rage these days. The kids just can't get enough of interacting with their gadgetry via their greasy digits. Robot iPhones and touchscreen PCs are all over the place. Apparently Vissumo is reaching out to the NRA, gun nut demographic with their bulletproof, or better, shootable touchscreen. Tired of having to reach across the room to adjust the volume on your screen? Just pull out yo' nine and empty a clip at the volume control. And really, gunpowder burns look way better on a screen than smudged fingerprints.

Dig this video demo of a Vissumo employee firing some .9mm rounds into the panel (after jump).

Oh great. One more thing to take from their cold dead hands. I really, really, really dislike the idea of my Montana-based extended family shooting bullets around the house instead of using a stylus or mouse. Guns have become so impractical that we need to shoot our monitors with them? If only those founding fathers could've seen the many misapplications of the right to bear arms. The minutemen would be proud.

But, as freaking ridiculous as a shootable screen is, I can see it as a great means of catharsis in the face man's impotence before the almighty computer. I mean, occasionally I get so frustrated with my moody mobo that there is nothing I'd love more than to shoot a few hollow points at those "fatal error" messages on the monitor.

And hey, I think we can expect to see some rather creative original Duck Hunt mods for this thing. That's something.
